Quality Manager
Summary of Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Construction Director, the Quality Manager has, as the name implies, responsibility for the quality aspects for the construction department at G Mining Services: ensure compliance and reliability of engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning activities for facilities and its equipment by deploying a robust quality management system (QA/QC) compliant with legal, normative and contractual requirements (ISO, etc.)
With quality at the heart of G Mining Services, the incumbent will work with the Construction Manager to define the strategy for implementing its plans and programs.
Main Responsibilities
Quality Aspect (QA/QC):
- Define, develop, deploy, maintain and improve the quality management system (QMS).
- Work with GMS internal construction, project management and engineering teams to ensure quality control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage quality documentation: non-conformances, corrective / preventive actions (CAPA), audit reports.
- Perform internal and external audits (suppliers, subcontractors, etc.).
- Deploy Site Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) per work package (earthworks, concrete, framing, piping, cabling, E&I, instrumentation, automation, HVAC, fire protection).
- Manage nonconformities (NCR), deviation requests and CAPAs.
- Deploy KPIs and dashboards (quality, ITP progress, close-out actions).
- Develop and update inspection procedures, work instructions, forms and matrices.
- Participate in cause analyses (RCA / 5 Why / Ishikawa) and recommend sustainable solutions.
- Plan and assist with FAT (Factory Acceptance Tests) for critical equipment (shredders, conveyors, pumps, MCC, automatons, protective systems, DCS/PLC).
- Monitor quality performance (KPIs, dashboards).
- Perform on-site compliance inspections of standards and regulations according to established standards.
- Plan and supervise the PACs (Pre-Commissioning / Commissioning): flushing, cleaning, calibrations, loop checks, vacuum / load tests, Interlocks, ESD, functional tests.
- Independent peer review of engineering documents for compliance with standards, codes and ensure that the “lessons learned” are documented.
- Develop or propose a historical tracking tool and an effective method for sharing lessons learned from construction to ensure future optimization and efficiency of similar operations.
- Act as a strategic reference to operations, procurement, logistics and other functions providing expertise and recommendations on programs under their responsibility.
- Ensure regulatory oversight that may impact quality standards related to our construction operations.
- Train and support quality officers in the project start-up phase.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and/or technical diploma in a relevant field of study.
- Minimum of five (5) years in mining and/or construction.
- Relevant certifications (an asset):
- ASP Construction
- ISO 9001, Lean Six Sigma, etc.
- Excellent understanding of quality standards.
- Control of audits, inspections, continuous improvement tools.
- Ability to analyze data and produce clear reports.
- Knowledge of provincial and federal regulatory requirements.
- Leadership and ability to influence teams.
- Organizational skills and rigour.
- Excellent communication and training skills.
- Proactive and solution oriented.
- Strong communication skills in English and French, both written and verbal, with a professional and positive attitude. English is primarily used to communicate with suppliers and/or colleagues located on sites outside of Quebec.
Additional Information
- The position will be based at the G Mining Services office in Brossard, in the Quartier Solar area.
- Possibility of working in hybrid mode (office and telework).
- This position requires travel to mine sites a few weeks or months per year based on the projects and operational needs of the organization.
- In the evolution of the position, there is a possibility that the candidate will be called upon to mobilize on remote work sites.
