Senior Piping Designer

Summary of responsibilities

Reporting to the Piping Lead, the incumbent will be part of the team dedicated to the design and development of mining projects. Specifically, the Senior Piping Designer will be called upon to:

• Participate in the review of process plant piping and instrumentation (P&ID) diagrams in conjunction with the Instrumentation department;
• Apply design best practices in the mining industry, including pump suctions and discharges for operation, wear and maintenance;
• Develop material and equipment lists based on process characteristics in a database format;
• Model 2D and 3D piping;
• Knowledge of piping support design, selection and installation principles;
• Provide support when reviewing the 3D model to resolve interference and design issues;
• Integrate feedback into the 3D model and supports conflict resolution of the model;
• Develop 2D isometrics from the 3D model;
• Prepare Material Take-Off (MTO) and calculate quantities of materials required for projects.

Requirements

• Technical degree in mechanical engineering or other equivalent training.
• Minimum of 15 years of relevant mechanical design experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in English and/or French.
• Advanced knowledge of drafting software such as Plant3D and AutoCAD is an important asset.

• The position will be based at the G Mining Services office in Brossard.
• Possibility of working in hybrid mode (office and remote work).
