Senior Mining Engineer, Open-pit Mine

Summary of responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Surface Mining Engineering Coordinator, the incumbent will be involved in all phases of evaluation and development of local and international open-pit mining projects. More specifically, he or she will be called upon to:

• Contribute to the gathering and compilation of data to bring projects to the construction and operational stages.
• Participate in the preparation of economic studies, including the drafting of NI 43-101 technical reports for preliminary, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies.
• Take part in the selection of appropriate equipment for mining projects under study.
• Contribute to the preparation of operational budgets and economic evaluation of projects.
• Design plans and technical drawings in accordance with project specifications.
• Prepare and deliver reports, publications and presentations to stakeholders.
• Coordinate with the multidisciplinary team and support services to ensure deadlines and budgets are met.
• Provide technical support and guidance to junior team members.

Requirements

• University degree in mining engineering.
• Minimum seven (7) years of relevant experience in engineering, including in mining operations.
• Consulting and/or international experience are important assets.
• Be a member in good standing of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (I.Q.) or eligible to be.
• Be able to communicate in French and/or English.
• Proficiency in Deswik specialized software (CAD, LHS and IS suites), Whittle and Minemax is an asset.
• Good knowledge of the Office Suite (advanced Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint).

Additional information

• Depending on the place of residence of the selected candidate, the position will be based at the G Mining Services office in Brossard, Canada or in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
• Possibility of working in hybrid mode (office and remote work).
• Possibility of travelling abroad and in Canada depending on the availability of the candidate.
