  • Develop and validate general layouts, equipment placement, operational and maintenance access points, and the integration of equipment into 3D models.
  • Integrate mechanical equipment into new facility (greenfield) and existing facility redevelopment (brownfield) projects, taking into account interface, constructability, operability, and maintainability constraints.
  • Prepare, review, sign and seal engineering documents as required including calculations, models, drawings, sketches, plans and specifications for the mechanical discipline.
  • Serve as a technical reviewer for the team’s engineers and designers and participate in design, constructability, risk and safety reviews.
  • Provide technical guidance to 3D designers and coordinate with process, piping, structural, civil, electrical and instrumentation disciplines.
  • Mentor and support less experienced engineers and designers, share best practices and contribute to the development of mechanical design standards and tools.

  • Experience in engineering consulting in the mining or mineral processing sector is strongly preferred; relevant experience in heavy industry, metallurgy, cement manufacturing, or industrial processes will also be considered.
  • Practical knowledge of various types of equipment, such as conveyors and material-handling systems, crushers, mills, filters, pumps, tanks, hoppers, chutes, separation equipment and tailings and process water systems.
  • Ability to interpret and comment on 3D models, general layout plans, supplier drawings, process and instrumentation diagrams (PFD, P&ID), and other multidisciplinary documents.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and knowledge of Plant 3D or equivalent 3D design software; experience with equipment calculation or selection tools is a plus.
  • Knowledge of codes, standards and best practices applicable to the design of industrial mechanical systems.
