Senior Designer, Mechanical and Piping

Summary of Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Design Manager, Mechanical and Piping, the Senior Designer, Mechanical and Piping will be dedicated to carrying out detailed studies and designs necessary for the construction of plants in the mining sector.

The main responsibilities of the Senior Mechanical and Piping Designer will be to:

• Prepare 3D general arrangement and equipment location drawings according to mechanical design criteria and plant layout as per engineering specifications.
• Incorporate feedback into the 3D model and solve problems between different disciplines (mechanical, electrical, etc.).
• Participate in planning timelines and deliverables.
• Perform the 2D layout of general equipment arrangements developed in design.
• Prepare the 2D drawings (quotation, tracking, text and notes).
• Extraction of isometric piping drawings from the 3D model.
• Ensure quality of product deliverables
• Comment on supplier drawings
• Assist in the preparation of engineering files (calculations, drawings, sketches and mechanical department plans).
• Interdisciplinary coordination and support of modeling resources (equipment, piping, concrete, structure, electrical etc.)
• Comment fluid flow diagrams (PFD) and piping and instrumentation schematics (P&ID).
• Participate in site-specific technical surveys (mine site).
• Contribute to the estimation and calculation of quantities of materials required for project implementation.
• Participate in the improvement of dynamic block libraries and other internal tools.
• Supervise and support the team’s Junior Drafters.

Requirements

• DEC or Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum of ten (10) years relevant experience in design of mechanical and piping equipment in the industrial field, preferably in mining.
• Specialized software in 3D modelling, Revit, Inventor, Plant 3D and AutoCAD 2D are important assets.
• Ability to communicate in English and/or French.

Additional Information

• The position will be based at G Mining Services office in Brossard and/or telework.
• Possibility of working in hybrid mode (office and telework).
• Possibility to travel internationally and within Canada based on candidate’s availability.
