Project Lead - CORE

Summary of responsibilities

Under the supervision of the CORE (Construction Readiness) Construction Director, the incumbent will participate in the planning and management of major GMS mine site construction projects, from their preparatory work planning phase until final delivery to the client. The Project Manager will have overall responsibility for his/her projects, while also acting as support on the projects of his/her colleagues within the department.

The main duties and responsibilities of this position include:

• Actively participate in technical and economic feasibility studies of mining projects (Greenfield and/or Brownfield);
• Coordinate with estimators, planners and engineers the identification and estimation of indirect costs (temporary facilities, logistics, support staff, HSE, IT infrastructure, etc.);
• Follow up with customer representatives to ensure permits are obtained and scope of work is met;
• Provide technical input into the preparation of construction scenarios for the different options studied;
• Support the integration of construction requirements into the project economic model;
• Develop and maintain the construction readiness and project execution plan in collaboration with the project teams;
• Carry out the mining project execution plan to develop the construction sequence;
• Participate in the development of the project schedule and phases in collaboration with Discipline Leaders;
• Plan the required labour curve and type of labour required to complete the work on schedule;
• Complete the list of mobile and heavy equipment and their duration of use required to perform the work;
• Identify, analyze and manage key project risks (costs, labour, procurement, timelines, etc.);
• Ensure that the necessary contingencies are included in project planning;
• Review and evaluate contractor submissions for contracted work and ensure they are compliant and without apparent omission;
• Perform engineering technical reviews and ensure constructability;
• Support project mobilization and start-up activities;
• Ensure and monitor project progress (cost, schedule, quality) and implement corrective actions as required;
• Ensure that all project activities comply with health, safety and environmental regulations and company policies;
• Develop construction-specific KPIs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mining, civil, mechanical, electrical or equivalent) or other technical training in a related field;
• Project Management Certification (PMP) is an asset;
• Have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in construction, mining or heavy industry;
• Be able to communicate in English and/or French;
• Demonstrated experience in project management;
• Ability to use project management tools and software (e.g. MS Project, Procore, Primavera, InEight, etc.);
• Experience in the mining industry especially on construction sites will be considered a strong asset.

• Flexibility to adapt plans to change while meeting objectives;
• Concerned about safety.

Additional information

• The position will be based at the G Mining Services office in Brossard, Canada.
• Possibility of working in hybrid mode (office and remote work).
• Possibility of occasional traveling abroad and in Canada.
