Intermediate Civil-Structural Engineer

Summary of responsibilities

Under the supervision of the CSA Director (Civil, Structural & Architectural), the selected candidate will be part of the team dedicated to the engineering of light and heavy industrial buildings. More specifically, they will be responsible for:

  • Design and prepare calculation notes for concrete structures in heavy industrial buildings.
  • Design and prepare calculation notes for steel structures in heavy industrial buildings.
  • Review and assisting in the preparation of engineering drawings, design specifications, standard documents and engineering reports.
  • Follow-up with site construction, steel fabricators and review shop drawings.
  • Check 2D drawings and 3D models for clashes and constructability issues with other disciplines.
  • Participate in the preparation of estimates, bills of quantities, schedules and budgets.
  • Ensure plans comply with guidelines, building code requirements, and other national and international standards and regulations.
  • Prepare and monitor progress of construction schedules.
  • Prepare cost and time estimates.
  • Participate in schedule development, ensure compliance with contractual schedules and develop corrective measures and action plans when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate design files for future reference.

Requirements

  • Member of the Ordres des ingénieurs du Québec.
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in civil/structural engineering, specializing in steel and concrete design.
  • Experience in the design of concrete and steel structures for heavy industrial facilities.
  • Experience in the mining sector and international projects is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience working in an international or multicultural environment.
  • Fluency in both French and English (written and spoken) is required.
  • Good knowledge of specialized software such as SAP2000, ETABS, ADA or similar.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Additional information

  • The position will be based at the G Mining Services office in Brossard, south shore of Montreal.
  • Possibility of travelling abroad depending on the availability of the candidate.
