Earthworks Superintendent
Summary of responsibilities
Under the supervision of the General Site Superintendent, the Earthworks Superintendent is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all earthworks activities. He or she ensures the day-to-day coordination of teams, subcontractors and heavy equipment in order to deliver work according to GMS standards ensuring that the required project schedule, cost and quality are met. The position requires a strong on-site presence and close collaboration with engineering and construction teams. The Superintendent also ensures that all operations comply with the organization’s OHS standards. Specifically, the Earthworks Superintendent will be responsible for:
- Plan, organize and supervise all earthworks required such as excavation, backfill, grading, temporary and permanent access roads, embankments, tailings storage facilities, site preparation prior to quarry operations, etc.
- Provide day-to-day management of two (2) excavation subcontractors located in two (2) work sites, with a total workforce of approximately 75 workers.
- Directly supervise the work of a foreman in charge of one of the 2 work zones.
- Ensure compliance with plans, technical specifications, work methods and construction sequences.
- Ensure productivity, cost and schedule targets are met.
- Manage budgets.
- Draw up work schedules.
- Review work schedules submitted by subcontractors.
- Coordinate the use and availability of heavy equipment (excavators, trucks, bulldozers, graders, compactors, etc.).
- Strictly enforce health and safety standards to ensure safe operations by workers.
- Work with engineering to resolve technical issues and optimize construction methods.
- Produce daily and weekly progress reports.
- Identify and manage risks related to site conditions, logistics and weather in extreme climate conditions (Northern climate).
- Participate in site meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of practices.
Requirements
- Degree in civil engineering, mining engineering, construction technology or equivalent experience.
- Significant experience in earthworks or civil engineering projects in the mining industry or large-scale projects.
- Excellent knowledge of grading methods, heavy equipment and site constraints.
- Experience supervising teams and subcontractors.
- Good knowledge of health, safety and environmental issues in the mining industry.
- Ability to work in remote locations and on rotating shifts, as required by the project.
- Fluency in both French and English (depending on the project location).

Additional Information on the Coffee Gold Project
- Full-time temporary employment contract with the possibility of extension or permanent status, depending on project needs at the end of the assignment.
- Start date: June 2026.
- End date: late December 2026 (approximately).
- Project location: Yukon, Canada.
- FIFO rotation schedule (return flight 22-20, 11-hour workdays on-site).
