Senior Electrical Technician-Designer

Summary of responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Lead Electrical Engineer, the incumbent will be part of the team dedicated to the electrical design and development of local and international mining projects. The incumbent will play an important role as the intermediary between Electrical Designers and Electrical Engineers. He/she will contribute, through his/her experience, to advise and support 3D modelling engineers at the electrical level. The main responsibilities include:

• Prepare general, typical, and specific electrical layouts with the aim of harmonizing the construction phase of mine sites usually composed of process plants, power substations, transformers, underground and overhead power supplies, etc.), both at the conceptual level and at the detail engineering (DE) level..
• Conceptualize 3D models at the electrical level.
• Review the data sheets
• Prepare drawings of general arrangements and 2D equipment location according to project-specific electrical design and plant layout criteria.
• Propose logical solutions and choices that respect the reality of other disciplines and departments involved in the construction of the mine site and its process plant (mechanical, earthworks, etc.);
• Work with electrical engineers to select or recommend suppliers of electrical equipment that best meet the site’s needs.
• Comment on supplier drawings to ensure accuracy of references and contact information.
• Develop engineering files and electrical distribution system models, drawings, sketches and plans.
• Provide support during 3D model review to resolve electrical installation interferences.

Requirements

• Have a college diploma in electrical engineering or equivalent.
• Have a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience, including in electrical network design.
• Experience in construction of mining projects and/or international projects is a strong asset.
• Good knowledge of modelling software such as Plant 3D, REVIT and Autocad is an asset.
• Ability to communicate in French and/or English.

Additional information

• Depending on the place of residence of the selected candidate, the position will be based at the G Mining Services office in Brossard, Canada or in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
• Possibility of working in hybrid mode (office and remote work).
• Possibility of traveling abroad and in Canada depending on the availability of the candidate.
