Summary of responsibilities

Under the supervision of the CSA Director (Civil, Structure & Architectural), the incumbent will be part of the team dedicated to the engineering for light and heavy industrial buildings. More specifically, the Senior Civil-Structural Engineer will be called upon to:

• Design and prepare calculation notes for concrete structures in heavy industry buildings.
• Design and prepare calculation notes for steel structures in heavy industry buildings.
• Review and assist in preparing engineering drawings, design specifications, standard documents, and engineering reports.
• Follow up with steel fabricator and review shop drawings.
• Check 2D drawings and 3D models for clashes and constructability with other disciplines.
• Support junior resources in carrying out the various phases of studies, and basic and detailed engineering.
• Participate in preparing estimates, bills of quantities, schedules, and budgets.
• Ensure plans meet guidelines, building code requirements and other national and international standards and regulations.
• Prepare and follow up on the progress of construction schedules.
• Prepare cost and time estimates.
• Participate in the development of the schedule, ensure compliance with contractual schedules, and develop corrective measures and plans if necessary.
• Maintain accurate design files for reference.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with specialization in structural design.
• Experienced in designing concrete and steel structures for heavy industry.
• Experience in the mining sector and international work are important assets.
• Member in good standing of the Conselho Regional de Engenharia e Agronomia (CREA).
• Knowledge of SAP2000 or ADA (Advance Design America) and Revit softwares.
• English (conversation, writing and comprehension).
• Spanish is an asset.
• Proficiency with Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Additional information

• The position will be based at the G Mining Services office in Belo Horizonte.
