Lead Mechanical Engineer
Summary of responsibilities
Reporting to the Mechanical and Piping Engineering Director, the incumbent will act as Project Lead for the team dedicated to managing the planning, construction and development of mining projects. The Lead Mechanical Engineer will be specifically called to:
- Coordinate the work of a team of engineers and designers with respect to engineering studies, basic and detail engineering projects and construction projects.
- Prepare time and cost estimates, machinery design reports and estimates, and equipment and system specifications.
- Prepare business / feasibility studies.
- Plan and prepare schedules and check progress against this data.
- Participate in the development of schedules, ensure compliance with contractual deadlines, and develop corrective actions and plans as required.
- Validate and submit budget forecasts.
- Participate in contract preparation and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, piping or related field.
- Minimum of ten (10) years relevant experience.
- Practical experience in mining and/or heavy industrial construction projects.
- Strong ability to integrate mechanical equipment into Greenfield/Brownfield projects.
- Experience managing mining projects through a consulting engineering firm (asset).
- CAPEX and OPEX project management skills.
- Excellent understanding of mechanical equipment design.
- Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (O.I.Q.) or eligible to be so or hold a licence to practice engineering in another province in Canada.
- Proficiency in specialized software such as Plant3D and Autocad.
- Able to communicate in both English and French.
- Able to communicate in Spanish or Portuguese (asset).
- Good knowledge of Office Suite (Excel, Word and Outlook).

Additional Information
- The position will be based at the G Mining Services office in Brossard and/or remotely.
- Possibility of working in hybrid mode (office and remote work).
- Must be available to occasionally travel internationally and within Canada to site.
