Lead Field Piping Engineer

Summary of responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Site Piping Superintendent, the incumbent will be involved in modifying the design of established systems processes or adapting part of the field engineering project. The Lead of Piping Engineer will be specifically called upon to:

  • Plan, schedule and coordinate detailed phases of engineering work in some or all parts of the medium scope project.
  • Plan and conduct surveys, tests or investigations, interpret results to prepare recommendations, summaries, schedules and cost estimates.
  • Meet with representatives of other departments to coordinate planning and scheduling activities.
  • Perform tasks that employ conventional engineering practices but involve a variety of complex features, such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitable standard materials and difficult coordination constraints.
  • Develop and evaluate plans and criteria for various projects and activities.
  • Develop new approaches to problems encountered. The work requires originality and judgement in assessing and resolving problems independently.
  • Plan and coordinate contractor tasks to complete work on time and within budget.
  • Contribute to piping supply and storage strategy.
  • Ensure departmental compliance with requirements of government agencies, lending institutions, environmental and shareholder health and safety legislation, and company regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, process or other related training.
  • Have a minimum of ten (10) years relevant experience, including construction supervision.
  • Previous experience in heavy construction projects of similar size.
  • Experience in mining or heavy industrial (preferred).
  • Be able to communicate in both English and French, both orally and in writing.
  • Strong knowledge in field piping design and installation.
  • Technical plans proficiency (isometrics, P&ID, etc.).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and autonomy in team management.
  • Adaptability to unforeseen circumstances and changing priorities.
  • Focus on meeting safety and environmental standards.

Additional Information

  • Contract from September 2025 until fall 2027.
  • Fly-in fly-out rotations based on a 23-day work schedule followed by 19 days off.
  • Transportation, accommodation and meals provided.
  • Possibility of working at the Brossard office over certain periods to prepare site work.
