Intermediate Architect
Summary of responsibilities
As a member of the CSA team, the architect will be responsible for the design and development of architectural work related to industrial buildings and infrastructure. This includes drafting, detailing and preparing construction documents in accordance with national and international codes and standards. The incumbent must coordinate with multiple disciplines and stakeholders to support design conception, procurement activities, CAPEX estimates and construction execution. The Architect will also play a key role in ensuring alignment between design and field activities to ensure project success. More specifically, the incumbent will:
- Prepare drawings, specifications, scope of work and construction documentation.
- Design and document industrial buildings according to local and international codes and regulations.
- Develop and manage architecture budgets (CAPEX), contributing to cost analysis and procurement strategies.
- Coordinate the selection and acquisition of architectural materials, including the review of supplier bids.
- Consult with internal teams and clients to define design requirements.
- Organize and manage design documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead or support architectural studies for new structures and site development.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including those working remotely.
- Provide innovative and practical solutions to design and coordination problems.
- Modify existing architectural designs to meet project specific site conditions.
- Coordinate with project planners and controllers to ensure accurate progress reports.
- Interface with various on-site stakeholders including craft teams, contractors, QC and designers.
- Ensure construction activities comply with federal, state and local codes as well as internal standards and contractual obligations.
- Provide field support and oversight of architectural works as required.
Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Responsibilities
- Demonstrate knowledge of applicable building, environmental and safety codes and standards.
- Promote a strong culture of safety, quality and environmental compliance at all project sites.
- During site visits or field rotations, ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to steel-toed boots and long-sleeved shirts as per the Health and Safety Plan.
- Maintain physical and mental readiness to work in challenging environments on site and for extended hours, without compromising safety.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture.
- Proven progressive experience in architectural design and construction of similar or large industrial installations.
- Demonstrated experience working on active construction sites and with multi-disciplinary teams.
Additional Skills and Attributes
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access).
- Advanced skills in AutoCAD, Revit and architectural visualization tools.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Advanced English.
