Candidate to the Engineering Profession – Mining Equipment
Summary of responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Senior Mining Equipment Coordinator, the incumbent will lead the evaluation and optimization of mobile mining equipment for our clients’ future mining operations. The main objective will be to develop service cost models and work closely with manufacturers to identify optimal configurations, options and equipment systems. More specifically, the candidate will be called upon to:
- Analyze and guide decision-making processes regarding the electrification and automation of mobile mining equipment, ensuring that the best solutions are selected for operational efficiency.
- Develop and maintain maintenance cost models, obtaining pricing and schedules for key components and ensuring they are factored into the overall project costs.
- Work on the cost models used to determine the total mobile equipment cost for mining operations, including a complete list of equipment and associated costs.
- Work with manufacturers to identify the best combination of options, features and equipment systems to meet project requirements and customer needs.
- Work closely with internal teams, manufacturers and other stakeholders to evaluate equipment choices, ensuring project objectives and budgets are met.
- Contribute to the equipment database for future references.
- Develop cost models and gather data on crushers, conveyors and other new mobile equipment solutions.
Requirements
- Diploma in Mining Engineering or University Degree in Mining Engineering.
- At least two (2) years of relevant mining experience is an asset.
- Excellent knowledge of Mobile Mining Equipment and emerging technologies (Electrification and Automation).
- Experience in cost modelling.
- Ability to analyze and interpret technical and financial data.
- Be able to communicate in English and/or French.
- Office suite skills, knowledge of InEight and AutoCad would be an asset.
- Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or eligible for membership is an asset.
